Summer, Sun, Salzkammergut

The fascinating flora of the Salzkammergut beguiles locals and guests regardless of the season. In summer, when local life is in full bloom, the cultural region attracts visitors with its appealing wealth of facets: a total of 76 lakes invite you to refreshing bathing fun, exciting surfing or adventurous kiting. The Traunsee holiday region in particular is considered a special gem when it comes to summer family holidays in the Salzkammergut. In addition to the Traunsee, the Langbath lakes and the Offensee lake are the most popular destinations for connoisseurs of all ages.

Natural beauty

DEFINED BY THE TRAUNSEE

In the heart of the Salzkammergut lies the three-kilometre-wide and 12-kilometre-long Traunsee. It is the deepest lake in Austria and is home to unique flora and fauna. Its shores are lined with picturesque villages that are excellent for inspiring excursions.

At the Ebensee lido you can soak up the sun, enjoy a lively swim with your offspring or dive into a fascinating underwater world. At the same time, it is possible to enjoy the nature-pampered surroundings while surfing or sailing.

It greens irresistibly

AT Langbathsee

Eight kilometres west of Ebensee, the two Langbath lakes delight visitors with their enchanting charm. With a length of just over one kilometre and a width of 500 m, the Vordere Langbathsee is significantly smaller than the Traunsee. The same applies to the Hinterer Langbathsee, which is only 600 m long and 400 m wide. However, this comparatively small area does not hide the wonderful face that characterises this natural duo.

Diving and bathing in the crystal-clear water of the Langbath lakes is an extraordinary experience.  If your heart beats for refreshing walks, the lake region does not disappoint in this respect either.

Exercise and relax

aT Offensee

Along with the Traunsee and the Langbath lakes, the Offensee is one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the Salzkammergut. It is the pulsating centre of the nature reserve of the same name. With a length and width of 900 m each, this popular destination offers enough space for swimming, diving and relaxing.

If you talk to the visibly enchanted guests on the lakeshore, one question will not be long in coming: What did you think of the Offensee hunting lodge? This stately mansion was commissioned by Emperor Franz Joseph I.. He and his wife, the famous Empress Sisi, used the domicile as a summer retreat.
